Axis is a suit of open-source, cross-platform Perl modules that combine to provide an alternative to a 'leading' software vendor's RAD design tool for database access. The target platform for me has always been Linux, however the suit also works flawlessly under Windows and OS X. Yes I realise ( now ) that I've 'stolen' the name of a prominent open-source project. That's too bad :) I chose the name as a parody of another database application from a 'leading' vendor. Maybe I should rename to AxisDB?

• Perl is an immensely popular object-oriented language with a large developer community and massive ecosystem of libraries.
